Webb Ellis

No sports brand has a more literary origin: the name comes from William Webb Ellis, the Rugby School pupil who, according to legend, picked up the ball with his hands during a football match in 1823 and ran, accidentally inventing an entire sport. That is why the Rugby World Cup trophy is called the Webb Ellis Cup, and that is why this brand, founded in 2003 by Rod and Lawrence Webb, chose as its logo a blue figure fleeing with the ball under its arm, the game's founding gesture turned into a signature. Based in the town of Rugby itself, in Warwickshire, a few steps from the school where it all happened, Webb Ellis is dedicated exclusively to rugby union, from balls to clothing and club equipment, serving above all the vast world of British amateur rugby.
