CD Toledo

Toledo is the imperial city of Charles V, and its club carries the empire's symbol on its chest: the double-headed eagle, which gives it its nickname, El Águila Bicéfala, alongside the simpler one, Los Verdes. Founded on 24 April 1928, CD Toledo plays at the Salto del Caballo, a stadium inaugurated in 1973 with a friendly against Atlético de Madrid in which the ground's first ever goal was scored by Luis Aragonés, from the penalty spot. The golden era came in the 1990s, with seven consecutive Segunda División seasons between 1993 and 2000 and a 4th place in 1993/94 that earned a promotion play-off to the Primera against Valladolid, won in the first leg at home before the dream unravelled in the second. But the feat no giant can take away is statistical and delicious: CD Toledo is one of only eight clubs in the world never to have lost to Real Madrid, with a head to head record of one win in one match. The futsal section extends the double-headed eagle into the sports hall, taking the green colours of 1928 into the fastest growing indoor game in Spanish cities.
