About the club
Palestino was born in 1920, founded by Palestinian immigrants in Chile, and grew into the sporting embassy of a people: Chile is home to the largest Palestinian community outside the Middle East, half a million strong, and the club from La Cisterna, in Santiago, is its flag. Chilean champions in 1955 and 1978, they made a habit of carrying Palestine's colours into the Libertadores.
Identity was never decoration here: in 2014 the club drew the number 1 as the map of Palestine and took the fine without apologising. The motto says the rest: más que un equipo, todo un pueblo. More than a team, an entire people.
