About the club
Greenbush Soccer Club is American grassroots soccer in its purest state: a not for profit community club, founded in 1972 in East Greenbush, across the Hudson from Albany, to give the local kids a ball. Half a century on it stays true to the three principles it preaches, commitment, character and community, with recreational programmes open to everyone and travel teams competing across New York State and the Northeast, always at neighbourhood club prices and proudly clear of the commercial clubs that dominate American youth soccer. The fourteen acres of grass at Phillips Road are the centre of gravity of thousands of Saturday mornings. It was from this soil, multiplied across thousands of towns, that American soccer grew into a giant.
