About the club
The Guernsey Rugby Academy is the island's rugby school, the youth arm of Guernsey Rugby Club, the Raiders, training kids from 4 to 18 on Sunday mornings at the Memorial Field next to Footes Lane. The parent club was born on a February evening in 1913, on an island where rugby was played before organised football, and picked its colours at the founding meeting: green and white.
The calendar revolves around an improbable trophy: the Siam Cup, contested with rivals Jersey since 1920, made from Siamese coins melted down with the permission of King Rama VI by his own royal silversmith. It is the second oldest trophy in world rugby, behind only the Calcutta Cup.
