About the club
Karşıyaka ASK is the club of Karşıyaka, a coastal village 18 kilometres west of Kyrenia (Girne), tucked under the Beşparmak mountains in Northern Cyprus. Until the late 1950s the village was called Vasilya, from the Greek "vasilias", king; the club was born in 1957, while the old name still breathed, and keeps the date on its crest alongside the ball, the laurel wreath and the flag of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, recognised only by Ankara.
It plays in the leagues of the KTFF, the Turkish Cypriot federation that lives outside FIFA's map, moving between the 1.Lig and the regional tiers. A village club in a championship that officially does not exist: football all the same.
