About the club
Le Touquet Athletic Club was born on 18 June 1933 from the merger of two rivals in the same resort, Olympic Touquettois and US Touquet-Paris-Plage, and represents the most elegant town on the Côte d'Opale, the self-styled paradise of sports in Pas-de-Calais where Paris and London went to the seaside. Since 1996 it has been Touquet AC Football Côte d'Opale.
Its history holds a name bigger than the club: Gérard Houllier, who played and coached there in the 1970s before PSG, Liverpool and the French national team, and who now gives the stadium its name. The high point was Division 2 in 1988/89; the present is lived in the Hauts-de-France regional leagues, always in hoops.
