Limerick GAA

Limerick GAA is not quite a club: it is an entire county. In the Gaelic Athletic Association, each Irish county gathers its parish clubs into a representative side that contests the All-Ireland championships, and Limerick, the Treaty County, is one of hurling's great houses, home of the fastest field sport in the world. Its history has two peaks: 1921, when the team in green and white hoops became the first ever to receive the Liam MacCarthy Cup, and the golden era of John Kiely, with the 2018 title ending a 45-year wait before four in a row between 2020 and 2023. It wears green at the TUS Gaelic Grounds and, as the GAA demands, its players are amateurs: heroes on Sunday, with day jobs from Monday to Friday.
