About the club
Olympia Thyrus San Valentino is an amateur club from Terni, in Umbria, and its name sums up the whole city's mythology. Thyrus is the legendary dragon that, according to local tradition, infested the marshes around Terni with its pestilent breath, until it was killed by a young knight of the noble Cittadini family; the beast has stayed on the city's coat of arms ever since, with the motto Thyrus et amnis dederunt signa Teramnis, "Thyrus and the rivers gave Terni its emblem". San Valentino, meanwhile, is the bishop of Terni who became the universal patron saint of lovers, celebrated on 14 February.
The club plays in Umbria's regional amateur leagues, based in the very city that gives the dragon and the saint their names.
