About the club
Oriente Petrolero was born on 5 November 1955 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, founded by workers of the state oil company YPFB at the height of Bolivia's oil boom, with Elmer Saucedo as first president. It played in yellow for its early decades before adopting green and white in the mid 70s, and grew into one of the country's giants: five Bolivian titles (1971, 1979, 1990, 2001 and 2010), the clásico cruceño against Blooming and a home at the Tahuichi Aguilera.
The rarest line on the CV is what never happened: the Albiverdes have never been relegated, a status very few Bolivian clubs can claim.
