About the club
Racing Club de Ponteilla was born in 1955 as Rugby Club de Ponteilla, in a village in the Aspres, in Roussillon, today home to just over 3,000 people. It is one of French amateur rugby's most remarkable stories: six national finals across seven decades and a single title, the 1999 French 4th tier championship, won 30-18 against RC Arles-sur-Tech-Amélie-les-Bains, after defeats in 1955, 1973, 1992, 1994 and 2000.
It is rural Northern Catalonia in its purest form: a village club that refuses to vanish from national rugby's map, even when the title takes decades to arrive.
