About the club

Raed Chabab Kouba was born on 28 February 1945 in the Algerian neighbourhood of Oued Kniss, in Kouba, founded by a group of young nationalists led by Mustapha Ben Ouenniche, lifetime honorary president. In colonial times, having only Algerian players, it was labelled by the French administration as the Muslim club of Kouba, which delayed its official recognition until its very founding year. The green and white colours come from the neighbourhood's 1545 mosque dome, visible from the sea and once used as a landmark by ships.

The great moment came in 1980/81: Algerian champions for the first and only time, with that year's Super Cup, followed by a quarter final in the African Champions Clubs Cup. It plays at the 10,000 capacity Mohamed Benhaddad Stadium, and today competes in Algeria's Ligue 2.
