About the club
Sete de Setembro was born on 7 September 1950, on Brazil's Independence Day itself, founded by a group of sportsmen from Garanhuns, in Pernambuco's agreste region, and took the name and date as a manifesto. The nickname Lobo Guará, the maned wolf of the interior's grasslands, defines the Alviverde's identity, six times municipal champion even before turning professional in the early 1980s, still remembered for an amateur 3-0 win over five times Pernambuco champions Náutico in February 1968.
The club debuted in the Campeonato Pernambucano in 1982, played 16 seasons in the state's top flight through 2010, and won its first professional title in 1995, the state's second division. It plays at the Gigante do Agreste, the interior of Pernambuco's largest sporting asset after Central de Caruaru's.
