About the club
Brotense was born on 10 July 1978 in Brotas, a parish of the Mora municipality where the Alentejo runs deepest, a small land of plains, cork oak pastures and old pilgrimages to the sanctuary of Nossa Senhora de Brotas. It lives the Évora FA district leagues with the ease of those who play for the love of it, and it stands out for one of the most singular crests in Portuguese football: a gecko, the discreet creature that guards people's homes in the south, here set to guard a club. Why the gecko, the village knows; the rest of the country gets to meet it through the shirt. Almost half a century after its founding, Brotense remains exactly what it promised to be: the club of Brotas, no more, no less.
