Sporting Clube de Cabinda

Sporting de Cabinda was born on 25 August 1925 as branch number thirty one of Sporting Clube de Portugal, lion and hoops included, in the enclave that oil would make famous. Independence in 1975 cut the cord with the mother club and it ended up renamed Sporting Clube Petróleos de Cabinda, a bow to the Cabinda Gulf Oil Company that sustained it, but not even the new name removed the hoops, and in the twenty first century the link to Alvalade was officially restored. The Lions of the North, twice champions of Angola's second division, in 2011 and 2013, split their home between the Chiazi National Stadium and the Tafe and live the shuttle between the Girabola and the Gira Angola, always with Sonangol and Chevron on the chest: the enclave's economic portrait stitched into a shirt.
