About the club
Sporting de Cabreiros was born on 15 August 1932 in a rural parish of the Braga municipality and now counts more than nine decades of parish council football, dressed in the image of Lisbon's Sporting, like so many namesakes the Minho has sown: a lion on the chest, green and white hoops and the certainty that the big name is not a burden but an honour. It plays at the Parque Desportivo de Cabreiros and competes in the Braga FA's Divisão de Honra, the second district tier, a handful of kilometres from the Archbishops' cathedral and the giant of the Quarry, proving that every size of football fits in the same city. Ninety odd years on, it keeps doing what it always did: giving the parish a game, every single Sunday.
