About the club
Sporting de Guadalupe was born on 7 April 1955 in the town of Guadalupe, on Graciosa, the white island of the Azores, and it was born literally in the house of music: its founding headquarters were those of the União Progresso Philharmonic, and club and band grew up door to door. Seventy years on it is an institution of the island, with the pitch behind the club house and teams competing in the Angra do Heroísmo FA, the oldest association in the Azores, which gathers Terceira, São Jorge and Graciosa. Its honours are made of island championships, cups and supercups, with appearances in the Azores Football Championship, and the lion on the chest tells no lies: on an island of four thousand people, Sporting has a parish too.
