About the club

The Warrington Wolves are rugby league royalty: founded in 1876, they were among the clubs that created the Northern Union in 1895, the sport's big bang, and they are the only British club to have played every single top flight season since. The nickname, The Wire, comes from the wire making industry that built the Cheshire town, and the honours list holds three championships and nine Challenge Cups, with Wembley lifted three times between 2009 and 2012.

The formal colours are primrose and blue, which makes any green and white Wolves shirt an absolute rarity, and it is precisely one of those that lives in this archive.
