Hibernian Football Club 2025/26 Special Shirt

Hibernian normally live just outside this archive on a technicality: green with white sleeves, no hoops. It took the club turning 150 for the stripes to come back. To mark the anniversary of the founding on 6 August 1875 by Edinburgh’s Irish community, Joma recreated the hooped design of the first photographed Hibernian shirt in history, in a process shaped by the supporters themselves, with surveys and fan forums guiding the choice. Dark green and white hoops, the HFC initials in Gothic lettering across the chest, the commemorative 1875-2025 crest embroidered beside them, “150 years” repeating inside the collar and HFC again on the back of the neck. Even the sponsor stepped aside: bevvy.com gave up its place on the chest to leave the shirt clean, carrying nothing but history. Its debut came with double symbolism, against Dundee United, a club born as Dundee Hibernian. A hundred and fifty years on, the Hibees returned to the hoops, and for one season the rule of this archive opened its door to them.

Here at Hoopster we celebrate the day Hibernian fitted this archive again: it took 150 years and the fans' own voices for the hoops of the first photograph to return to the chest. Sometimes the future is going back for the beginning.
