About the brand

Robey was born in 1947, when Pieter Bey set up his sports brand in his Blijdorp apartment while Rotterdam rebuilt itself from the bombings. He joined the Ro of his city to the Bey of his surname and created a name that ruled Dutch football in the 60s, 70s and 80s: Sparta, Heracles, FC Groningen and even the Netherlands national team wore the R on the chest, on the backs of Koeman, Danny Blind and Van Hanegem.

The brand faded in the 90s, bankruptcy included, until 2012, when a group of young Rotterdammers revived it in an old shipyard by the Maas. Groningen's 2015 KNVB Cup was the first major trophy in its history; today it dresses 10 professional clubs and over 400 amateur sides, the biggest teamwear supplier in Dutch football, always with a golden clover on the shoulder.
