About the club

Icasa was born in 1963 in the sheds of the Indústria e Comércio de Algodão S.A. of Juazeiro do Norte, a cotton company that offered proper jobs to anyone who could play, and it took the factory onto its crest: a cog, crowned by the stars of the consecutive city titles of its golden era. The Big Green of the Cariri plays at the Romeirão, the stadium named in honour of Padre Cícero's pilgrims in the capital of faith, and the anthem promises that faith leads to victory. It nearly kept its word: runners up in Brazil's Série C in 2012 and, in 2013, one point short of promotion to Série A, a promotion the club still claims in court against the CBF to this day. Through relegations, refoundations and rebirths, the Cariri never stopped being green.
