About the club

Lusa was born on 14 August 1920, when São Paulo's Portuguese community merged five small emigrant clubs into one, dressed in the red and green of the flag they had left across the Atlantic. At Canindé, on the banks of the Tietê, it built the history of an intermittent giant: the Rio-São Paulo tournaments of 1952 and 1955, full-back Djalma Santos, the tragic genius of Dener, and in 2011 the first national title, the Série B of Jorginho's Barcelusa, won with 82 goals and 21 games unbeaten. Two years later came the wound that has never closed: the 2013 relegation decided at the table, through four points deducted in the Héverton case. Today, reborn as a SAF, Lusa rebuilds itself between Série D and the Paulistão.
