About the club
The name gives it away: Caçadores das Taipas, the Taipas Hunters, were born on 23 November 1923 as a hunting society, and only in 1930 did the shooting range give way to football for good. The name stayed, so did the wild boar on the crest and in the anthem, and so did the Montinho, the oldest football ground in Guimarães. The second oldest sports institution in the borough, behind Vitória, the club from the town of Caldas das Taipas peaked at the turn of the century: a Portuguese Cup last sixteen in 1998/99, the national Third Division title in 2000/01 and spells in the Segunda Divisão B. The Montinho raised names like César Peixoto and Moreno. Today the club lives in the Braga district leagues, always in green and white hoops.
