About the club

The Sidekicks were born in 1984 at the hand of Donald Carter, owner of the Mavericks, to fill Reunion Arena on nights without basketball, and became an institution of American indoor soccer: four titles in four different leagues, 1987, 1993, 1998 and 2001, starting with the 1987 MISL epic, won against Tacoma in game seven and celebrated with a parade of ten thousand people through downtown Dallas. The soul of the house was always Tatu, the Brazilian who threw his shirt into the crowd after every goal he scored, part of all four championship teams and the second highest scorer in indoor history, with 857 goals. The original club folded in 2004; Tatu resurrected it in 2012, and today the Sidekicks play the MASL out of Allen, in north Texas.
