The story
Hummel dressed the comeback with the whole of Texas: the state repeated as a pattern inside the hoops, a football playing the flower in the middle of the map, the brand's chevrons running down the long sleeves and the MASL patch on the arm. The crest needs no words: it is Texas itself with a ball inside.
It served the 2018/19 season, the one of the restart: after a year in the dark to reorganise the house, the Sidekicks returned to the MASL with new owners, among them an executive from MLS, and had a modest nine win season at the Allen Event Center. But in Dallas, indoor soccer was never measured only in tables: this is the city where a Brazilian named Tatu taught America to love the arena game by throwing shirts into the crowd, one per goal, until the bench ran out.
