FC Sète

Born in 1901 as Olympique de Cette, with the old spelling of the fishing town on the Hérault coast, the club was a giant when French football turned professional. It won the first of its French Cups in 1930, was a founding member of the professional league in 1932 and, on 6 May 1934 in Colombes, made history: champions and cup winners in the same season, the first double in French football. It was champion again in 1939, driven by the goals of Hungarian Désiré Koranyi, in the days when people called it the Mecca of football. The war took everything: the club clung to the top flight until 1954 and gave up professional status in 1960. The Dauphins wear green and white and play in the regional leagues today, with two stars nobody can take away.
