About the club

The Ivory Coast national team was born with the country itself: the Fédération Ivoirienne de Football was founded in 1960, the year of independence, and the Elephants became one of African football's great powers. AFCON champions in 1992, in a final decided by the longest penalty shootout in the tournament's history, 11-10 over Ghana, they repeated the feat in 2015, again against Ghana and again on penalties, and crowned it all in 2024, at home, with an epic triumph after being practically eliminated in the group stage. In between, the golden generation of Didier Drogba, the Touré brothers and Gervinho took the country to the first three World Cups in its history, in 2006, 2010 and 2014. Few shirts in Africa carry so much talent per square metre.
