About the club
Lechia was born in 1945, founded in Gdańsk by Poles displaced from Lwów, a city lost to the Soviet Union, who brought the name and the colours with them. The Biało-Zieloni have lived through everything: the 1983 Cup and Super Cup, followed by the European tie against Platini's Juventus in which the whole stadium chanted Solidarność with Lech Wałęsa in the stands, under martial law; the fall to the sixth tier; and the return to the top flight, in a new stadium built for Euro 2012.
The best season came in 2018/19: third place, matching 1956, and a second Polish Cup. In Gdańsk, green and white is the memory of two cities at once.
