About the club
Sheffield Wednesday, the Owls, are one of England's oldest clubs, founded in 1867 as a cricket club before turning solely to football, the owl on the crest giving the fans their nickname. They have always played at Hillsborough, blue and white their permanent identity; green and white hoops appear only occasionally, in alternate kits manufacturers varied across the decades. This collection holds one of those rare pieces, from the 1988/89 season, the year the club competed in the First Division under Howard Wilkinson, replaced mid season by Peter Eustace.
