About the club

Sporting Clube de Macau was born in September 1926 as Branch No. 25 of Sporting Clube de Portugal, the oldest outpost of Lisbon's giants in the Far East. It fell asleep and was reborn twice: reactivated in 1951 by António Conceição, and again in 2008 by his son, António Conceição Júnior, in his father's memory.

In the 1980s it had a strong side that sent players like Rocha to Alvalade, and it was champion of Macau in 1991. Today it plays in the Liga de Elite, where the derby with Benfica de Macau transplants Lisbon's rivalry to the Pearl River Delta. The Lions of Macau: green and white hoops, eleven thousand kilometres from home.
