UE Llagostera

Llagostera is a small town in Girona province, and the club was born there on 13 November 1947, founded by the town's own mayor, Leandre Calm, who also became its first president, with the name Castilianised by order of the regime at the time, Unión Deportiva instead of Unió Esportiva. For six decades Llagostera lived in Catalan regional categories, until the arrival of coach Oriol Alsina, with his wife Isabel Tarragó as president from 2008, triggered an unprecedented climb: five promotions in seven years. In 2010/11, in its second season in Tercera División, Llagostera won its group and was promoted to Segunda B for the first time in its history, a feat that 2011/12 shirt documents in the club's absolute debut at that level. The climb would continue: in 2015 Llagostera even reached the Segunda División, Spain's second tier, a historic achievement for a town of a few thousand people, before returning to regional categories in the following years.
