The story

Not much survives of CDC Zafiro Elche besides this shirt and a collector's pin: a sports and cultural grassroots club from Elche with no written history left behind. Romario, a 1990s Spanish brand that never left the Iberian market, gave it a polo collar, wide hoops and the round crest with the city's bow, Club Deportivo y Cultural Zafiro, Elche. On the chest, Laser Dr. Soler, a local eye clinic; on the back, under the 7, Marhuenda Racing.

It is the 1997 shirt of a club that wore green and white hoops in the city of two hundred thousand palm trees and vanished from the map without leaving anything else behind, except this piece to tell the story.

Here at Hoopster, this is the archive's Elche mystery: a sapphire name, a famous city, and no answer beyond the one the shirt itself gives.
