The story

Sondico unveiled this shirt on the biggest stage Yeovil ever reached: Wembley, 19 May 2013, the League One playoff final. The Glovers beat Brentford 2 to 1 and climbed, for the first time in the club’s history, into the second tier of English football. The 2013/14 season that followed, with W&S Recycling across the chest, was Yeovil’s only one in the Championship, sharing a division with Leicester, Leeds and QPR, and it ended in relegation. It remains the ceiling of a club that spent the entire twentieth century outside the Football League.

This example is match issued and carries the number 13. For years it was a mystery, until Yeovil’s own supporters solved it in minutes on the r/YTFC community: the 13 that season belonged to Kieffer Moore, the 1.96 metre striker who months earlier was playing part time for Dorchester Town while working as a fitness instructor. He signed for Yeovil in July 2013, the first professional contract of his life, and made his debut straight into the Championship. A decade later he was leading the line for Wales at a World Cup. Between obscurity and international football there was a first season, and this is its shirt.

Here at Hoopster this piece brought together Wembley, the ceiling of a century old club and a mystery solved by the fans themselves: the 13 belonged to Kieffer Moore, from part-time football to the World Cup. The best entries are written by many hands.
