Nike dressed Celtic's 125th year in the most classic hoops it knew how to cut and put the date where it belonged: a ring of celtic knots around the crest, "1888-2013" just below it and both years stitched inside the collar. Tennent's in black across the chest, the Lisbon star above the four-leaf clover, plain white round neck. A shirt you read before you see it, like every shirt made to celebrate something.

And there was plenty to celebrate. On 7 November 2012, the night after the anniversary, Celtic beat Messi's Barcelona 2-1 at Celtic Park, goals from Wanyama and young Tony Watt, and reached the Champions League last 16 for the first time since 2008. At home, in the first season without Rangers in the top flight, came a 44th title and a 3-0 Scottish Cup final win over Hibernian, a double for Neil Lennon, with Gary Hooper scoring 31 goals.
