About the brand

Nike was born in 1964 in Oregon as Blue Ribbon Sports, a distributor of Japanese running shoes founded by athlete Phil Knight and his coach Bill Bowerman, who shaped soles with the family waffle iron. Rebranded in 1971 with the name of the Greek goddess of victory and a swoosh designed for 35 dollars, it became the biggest sports brand on the planet. It came late to football, only seriously from the 1994 World Cup onwards, but in three decades it conquered everything: it dresses world champion national teams, European giants and thousands of clubs on every continent.
