The story

Broad hoops, V-neck with a white triangle closing the chest, black underarm panels and PT in place of Telecel, already carrying the new four-square red and blue logo the telecom launched that year. It was Reebok's second-to-last Sporting shirt, and the one most people remember seeing on a European pitch.

Because it was the shirt of the UEFA Cup final at home. José Peseiro took Sporting past Feyenoord, Middlesbrough, Newcastle (4-1 at Alvalade) and AZ Alkmaar, the latter settled by a Miguel Garcia goal in the 121st minute in Alkmaar, to the final of 18 May 2005 in their own stadium. Rogério scored first and CSKA Moscow turned it into 3-1 in the second half. In the league, third behind Benfica and Porto, with Liedson scoring 25 goals to win the Bola de Prata.

Here at Hoopster, this is the shirt of a final lost in the one place Sporting most wanted to win it, and for that very reason one of the hardest and most worthwhile to own.
