Adidas needs little introduction in football. Founded by Adolf Dassler in Herzogenaurach in 1949, the German manufacturer has kitted out national teams, historic clubs and competitions across every corner of the world. In this archive, the Adidas collection brings together green-and-white hooped shirts from a dozen clubs and national sides: from Celtic to Saint-Étienne, Panathinaikos to Portland Timbers 2, and from the Congolese football of AC Léopards de Dolisie to the modest surroundings of Alcochetense. A group of shirts that shows how a single graphic language (the horizontal stripe) can travel across geographies, cultures and divisions while keeping its character intact.
