About the brand

Puma was born in 1948 in Herzogenaurach, Bavaria, when Rudolf Dassler fell out with his brother Adi and each founded his own brand, Puma on one side of the river, adidas on the other, splitting the town and world sport in one of the most famous family feuds of all time. The big cat dressed Pelé, Cruyff, Maradona and Eusébio, and in international football it became synonymous with Africa: for decades it equipped half the continent, from Cameroon to Ghana and Ivory Coast, signing some of the boldest designs World Cups have ever seen. The eternal third force behind the two giants, it was always the brand with the bravest pencil.
